Job Description

JOB TITLE: Content Associate (Full-time)

REPORTS TO: Content Director

POSITION SUMMARY:

From top chefs and restaurants to the art and creativity of cooking, do you have an interest in the world of food? Do you enjoy immersing yourself in all facets of the culinary world? Do you have a passion for writing and marketing, and do you have a knack for writing eye-catching headlines?

The Institute of Culinary Education (ICE) seeks a full-time Content Associate to contribute to the development and execution of marketing content across print and digital media. You’ll write articles and promotional copy; develop creative collateral for campaign and tentpole executions; and provide content and design support to cross-functional marketing initiatives. Long story short: We seek a wordsmith with cultural savvy, strong organizational skills, and a quick mind who is eager to learn within and contribute to our A+ content team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support content and strategy improvements to email messaging, specifically new lead “welcome” communications and ongoing nurturing efforts.
  • Write articles for ICE website, authoring alumni interviews; faculty profiles; one-line and longer form copy for landing pages; and more.
  • Update top-performing articles per SEO best practices and make ad hoc changes to website copy.
  • Contribute to content and design components within weekly student, alumni and promotional emails.
  • Draft copy for print collateral, including promotional flyers and brochures.
  • Assist in creating marketing materials for one-off initiatives and special events.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS :

  • Candidate should be a strong writer capable of authoring multi-platform content that is concise and on-brand. Openness to feedback and mentorship is a must.
  • Candidate must possess a keen eye for detail and be self-motivated, organized and process-driven.
  • Personally and professionally, the ideal candidate is actively immersed in the world at large, with a finger on the pulse of news, trends and the cultural zeitgeist.
  • Candidates should be naturally collaborative and capable of working closely with ICE’s marketing and other cross-functional teams.
  • Ideal candidate has 1-2 years writing experience in editorial and/or marketing environments. Food writing background is a plus, but is not required.
  • Ability to write in varying “voices” for multiple platforms — including web, social, video, and email.
  • Fast learner when navigating new tech systems and skills: knowledge of Content Management Systems (CMS) and social media platforms is preferred, as well as possessing a curiosity about AI and an interest in leveraging it.
  • Strong executive functioning skills — you know when to take initiative (and can discern when it’s better not to); how to write an email that gets the info you need; and how to manage competing priorities without missing deadlines.
  • Degree in a related field or equivalent experience, job knowledge and success.

WEIGHT % ACCOUNTABILITIES (APPROXIMATE):

  • 30% Writing new + updating existing website and blog content
  • 30% Supporting distribution channels: Author engaging copy for email, social, print collateral, et al.
  • 20% Campaigns and special projects: Develop copy and support with photo editing / design collateral for marketing events like visiting chef panels, ICE annual commencement, holiday programming, etc.
