Job Description

Charlotte’s Best Nanny Agency is assisting a family in Conover, NC, in finding a senior caregiver for a senior family member. The senior caregiver would typically be needed Monday through Friday, 9:30 am - 1:30 pm, 20 hours per week, with the possibility of more hours per week as the position evolves.

On most Thursdays, the caregiver duties would be performed in Denton, NC. There will occasionally be a need for the senior caregiver to travel with the family to Florida and the mountains. All hours worked and travel expenses will be paid for when traveling with the family.

The best Senior Caregiver would be compassionate, patient, discreet, and trustworthy. It is essential that the caregiver can provide attentive and respectful care to a senior family member in a private residence. The family member who needs care has Progressive Supranuclear Palsy and has some difficulty with balance, walking, swallowing, eyesight, and incontinence at times.

Each day, the caregiver would be responsible for assisting an elderly gentleman who needs to be woken up around 9:30 AM, can shower independently, and uses a walker. Responsibilities include assisting with clothing selection, providing minor dressing assistance (such as buttoning), and ensuring his safety and stability, particularly given his increased fall risk. The caregiver will need to be present during his morning routine (9:30 AM - 12:00 PM) to administer medications, ensure he drinks Ensure and eats crackers, and help him dry off and get dressed. The ideal candidate will be easygoing, have prior experience working with elderly individuals, and bring a calm, caring presence to the home. The family also has a House Manager to oversee the management of the home. Senior Care Responsibilities Include:

• Provide companionship and engage in conversation or activities

• Monitor and support the seniors' daily routines and overall well-being

• Assist with mobility around the home

• Light meal preparation (lunch or simple meals) as needed and tidying up after meals.

• Medication reminders and daily check-ins

• Ensure a safe and clean environment

• Communicate regularly with the family regarding any changes in health or behavior

Pets: The family has one cat, for which no pet care is required.

Qualifications:

• Have at least 3 years of professional Senior Care experience.

• LPN or CNA preferred

• Have a professional resume

• Fill out a complete online application

• Pass a national background check, including a driving record check

• Pass a credit check

• Have a valid driver’s license

• Have safe and reliable transportation

• Have a minimum of three professional references

• CPR and First Aid Certified

• The caregiver should be fluent in English
